Right Fit, Right Question

okay, So way back in August I got a pair of Lane Bryant’s Right Fit Jeans. I thought I was a red gal. Maybe I’ve just gotten fatter since then, but those jeans soon felt way too tight. I mean, they were tight when I bought them, but I thought that was how they were supposed to be.

I remember reading blogs back then and remember everybody praising these jeans so much, and I was just kinda like “eh, they’re all right”. They didn’t wow me as much as other people.

Well, a few weeks ago I went back to Lane Bryant with my mum because I just couldn’t stand trying to wear my other jeans before. I had to like, seriously suck my tummy in. It hurt and it was ridiculous. So. Not. worth. it.

So we got there and I told the lady that I was wearing a Red 2, but they felt too tight in the stomach. Apparently I am actually a Yellow rather than a Red (Back when I first tried the jeans on, they tried to put me in a Yellow 0… Yellow 0! That is friggin crazy, i couldn’t even get my thigh in lol! So I automatically assumed I was not, in fact, a Yellow. They measured my waist or whatever that first time, and it was not accurate for me. I have a tiny waist compared to my thunder thighs, it’s weird.) Anyway, I tried on a Yellow 3- too tight. Yellow 4- pretty good actually. Really good actually. I asked my sister what she thought and said it looked weird around the area where your legs meet your crotch. I was like “oh”. So I tried on a Yellow 5. It felt a little more loose, and compared to how tight my jeans were before it felt nice.

I think next time we go I want to try on the 4 again. I want to compare the two. Because the 5s seem a little too baggy for me and a little too loose. I don’t like belts, and I feel like with this size I need one. Too bad there isn’t a 4.5 or something lol.

Anyway, my question: Does Lane Bryant EVER have sales on the Right Fit Jeans? We went in with a 40% off coupon and when we walked in the one lady there asked if we knew about it. We said yep, that’s why we are here. Then she tells us about what it excludes- and guess what? It excludes Right Fit. BLARG! So we leave. We got another special thing in the mail today, like “$50 off $150 purchase” or something… and guess what? On the back, in the fine print, “excludes Right Fit”… UGHHH!!

I don’t want to make my mom spend $40 a piece for these jeans (i’d like to have 2 more pairs so I’m stocked). It’s bad enough that I don’t want her to give me looks because I must’ve gained some weight (or just couldn’t take the old jeans anymore… I think it’s a bit of both, but I don’t have a scale so I don’t really know). That was one thing I was worried about when I decided I needed to ask her to buy me new jeans. This hasn’t happened in a long time. I usually got new jeans just because the old ones were crap, not because they didn’t fit. The old ones could’ve lasted another year or so. So I feel bad. My parents don’t have millions of dollars floating around to waste on clothing.

They must’ve had some kind of sale before, that’s why I have two of the old pair (like maybe a buy one get one 1/2 off?). Because I am pretty sure that my mom didn’t spend $80 at once for jeans, only if there was a special or something.. Ugh, I wish I worked there sometimes, 40% off! I’ve actually been thinking about it sometime. I could definitely be peppy/encouraging enough. But I’m going to college in the fall anyway, so I guess I’ll just stick with my crap job I have now.

I am adrift the sea of crap coupons! Please Help! Anything!

  1. Well you can sign up at EBATES.com use my email addy and you get 5 or 10 dollars automatically and you get approx 3 percent back when you shop at lanebryant.com, Fashionbug.com and oldnavy.com. Usually lanebryants online coupons of 15% or so work for everything, and they have a buy one get one 50% off right now as well that might work.
    Good Luck!

  2. The $40 per pair is worth it. I have three pairs of the right fit jeans, and I wear them every day, and I’ve had them since they first came out (a few months now?). No sign of wear on the thighs, which is where my jeans usually start showing wear first and usually within a month of daily wearing, and they still fit fabulously and don’t make me feel like I’m wearing “mom” jeans–those ones that come up to my bellybutton. Which is the issue with most of the LB jeans.

As for sales on them, I don’t know. I must have picked mine up during a sale, too, since I have 2 pairs that I bought at the same time. Try on different cuts–i.e., the boot cut vs. the flares–in the same size. And go with one that starts out tight, because they do tend to stretch throughout the day as you wear them. And if you want different washes, be sure to try them on too, because for me, the light wash seems to fit differently no matter what LB jeans I try on.

  3. I didn’t have to try on different pairs of Right Fits—the Red 8 fit perfectly on me. I knew I was a red because pockets gape with me. The great thing is, I can put them in the dryer and they don’t get tight. I also bought a pair of Right Fit black dress slacks for work, and again, the fit and cut are wonderful. Now they have Right Fit capris, which I will definitely buy since I live in capris during the spring and summer. I prefer the dark washes.

My mom and her sister-in-law were like you, they had to keep trying on pairs to see which ones fit them. I suspect they won’t put them on sale because they know most LB shoppers will pay the price for a good pair of jeans.

  4. Try Catherine’s also. I have seen one sale on Right Fit Jeans few weeks ago. Go to their web site and sign up for emails.

    Wish U luck
